Stop the presses - contrary to every bit of analysis these days, social media is not the future of internet marketing, it’s all about the old-fashioned techniques.
Over half (55 per cent) of small company owners believe that social networking sites have a place in the business world, a study by SurePayroll has found.
According to a report from WebProNews, the blog Bankaholic.com was sold for $15 million. Bankaholic.com is considered an authority in the banking industry.
Darren Rowse who knows a thing or two about blogging success says, “If this price is true it’s a fairly decent sale for Mr Wu (understatement of the year) - the blog has an Alexa ranking of 42,168 and averages less than 20 comments per post. The blog does seem to rank very well for a lot of bank terms and I’m sure drives targeted traffic and would convert well with affiliate products - but this is still a fairly inspiring sale!”
The first time I heard about Marcus Buckingham was two days ago when I received an email telling me about the forthcoming launch of his new book The Truth About You: Your Secret to Success.
The email is also says Marcus is a New York Times best selling author and provided a link to his website. The website is very nice and professional but as with all such websites there’s hype and everything is very bias in favor of the owner or his products.
I did some googling before I delve further into the site. I came up with some surprising info about this guy. He is a Brit living in the States, worked 17 years at Gallup, been interviewed by countless magazines, he’s been on talk shows like Oprah Winfrey’s, on the talk circuit, gave talks to the managers of some of the big corporations like Cisco, Coca-Cola and Microsoft. Last but not least, he is on the advisory team to the US Secretary of State.
Now that’s something! I went back to his website to learn more about his books and the new launch. Also on the site are some videos. This video convinces me that he is good! I must go and get his books and especially the new one.
